Copper up at 4-month peak

Singapore, Aug. 30

Shanghai copper touched a four-month high on Monday, buoyed by gains in London in the previous session.

Benchmark third-month Shanghai copper rose 2.6 per cent to 59,330 yuan by the close, having earlier touched 59,390 yuan, its highest since the end of April. Shanghai zinc rose 2.7 per cent to 17,510 yuan after a 2.2 per cent gain by the LME Friday.

The local tin market closed higher on Monday, but the trading volume remained unchanged compared with last Friday. Tin price on the Kuala Lumpur tin market increased $300 to close at $21,500 a tonne. Turnover remained the same as 60 tonnes.
