Nickel gains on global cues

Base metal prices rose sharply on the non-ferrous metal market on Monday on heavy buying by stockists as well as increased demand from consumer industries in view of firming of prices at the London Metal Exchange (LME). Nickel strengthened by Rs 10 a kg to Rs 910. Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper wire bar and copper sheets cutting rose by Rs 8 a kg each to Rs 338, Rs 331, Rs 366 and Rs 318 respectively. Copper armature firmed up by Rs 7 a kg to Rs 325. Copper utensils scrap and brass sheets cutting moved up by Rs 5 a kg each to Rs 302 and Rs 235. Tin edged up by Rs 3 a kg to Rs 848. Brass utensils scrap, zinc and lead also inched up by Re 1 a kg each to Rs 225, Rs 123 and Rs 104 respectively.
