Cadmium prices drift lower

Cadmium prices have been drifting lower for the past few weeks as buyers keep to the sidelines amid the economic downturn, said a trader. He added the metal has ''taken a real hit,'' particularly as buying in China that had been hoped for back in September hasn't materialized. He said that in the near term, prices could fall all the way down and then come back up again. Added, however, that because it's such a small market, with quite random end-uses, it's difficult to predict the metal's outlook. Cadmium 99.95 per cent is currently trading at $1.40 a pound, down 30 per cent from two weeks ago.
