Iron ore exports in September dropped 44 per cent to 3.1 million tonnes (mt) due to stockpiles at Chinese ports and slower demand, Mr R.K. Sharma, Secretary-General of Federation of Indian Mineral Industries, said on Monday. Exports during the April-September period fell by about five per cent to 37.9 mt compared with 39.8 mt a year earlier, data from the mining industry body showed. "India will be phased out slowly and gradually from the Chinese market," Mr Sharma said. The country exported 104 mt of iron ore in last fiscal, mostly to China.
