Spot rubber prices firm on supply fears

The rubber prices were firm on Friday. Supply concerns continued to haunt the main marketing centres and it was difficult to find out quantity sellers even at higher levels. Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 131.75 from Rs 131.50 a kg on Thursday. The volumes were dull. According to sources, all major consuming industries from the tyre and non- tyre sector were active in the main marketing centres.

JULY CONTRACTS SLIP

The declines in the global indices failed to influence the domestic sentiments and the market seemed to be moving at its own fundamental strength. RSS 3 slipped further at its July contract to ¥ 332.1 ( Rs 132.71) from ¥ 334, August to ¥ 331.6 ( 334.3), September to ¥ 331.6 ( 333.2), October to ¥ 330.7 ( 333.5), November to ¥ 330.8 ( 333.2) and December to ¥ 330.3 ( 332.1) a kg at TOCOM. Spot prices were ( Rs/ kg): RSS- 4: 131.75 ( 131.50); RSS- 5: 130 ( 129.75); ungraded: 128.50 ( 127.75); ISNR 20: 130.50 ( 130) and latex 60 per cent: 88.50 ( 88.50).
