LME hires minor metals expert

The London Metal Exchange has hired minor metals expert Mr Chris Evans to conduct a feasibility study about bringing the trade in cobalt and molybdenum onto the LME, market sources said. Mr Evans is editor of the non-ferrous section of industry journal Metal Bulletin, which publishes benchmark prices for many of the so-called minor metals, rare and valuable substances often used in hi-tech applications. ''It looks like the LME are pretty serious about it (looking at cobalt and molybdenum,'' one metals trader said. The LME said at the start of the year it would assess the viability of launching contracts for cobalt and molybdenum as part of a plan to bring more metals business onto the exchange-Reuters.
