Copper falls; aluminium rises on LME

Copper declined in London, erasing an earlier gain, on speculation an economic slowdown worldwide will reduce demand for industrial metals. Aluminium rose; nickel fell. Copper for delivery in three months slid $30 to $7,130 a tonne as 9:41 a.m. on the London Metal Exchange.

Aluminium gained $16.50 to $2,656.50 a tonne.

Nickel dropped $400 to $26,850, lead declined $10 to $2,720 a tonne and zinc fell $15 to $2,335 a tonne. Tin advanced $75 to $16,800 a tonne.
