Mixed trend in spot rubber

Spot market showed a mixed trend on Thursday. RSS 4 improved by 25 pasie to Rs 93.25 a kg at Kottayam, while the grade closed static at the same rate in Kochi.



Ungraded rubber also inched up on scattered transactions but the remaining grades including latex ended steady lacking solid support from traders.



In the international market, RSS 3 spot closed better by 9 paise at Rs 104.18 a kg at Bangkok. The February futures firmed up to ¥ 282 ( Rs 104.39) from ¥ 280.4 a kg at TOCOM. The March futures concluded the session at Rs 94.50 ( 94.58) a kg MCX.



FUTURES GAIN



On NMCE, the February futures for RSS 4 managed to finish in green at Rs 93.35 ( 93.25), and March at Rs 94.99 ( 94.79), while the April futures slipped to Rs 96.80 ( 96.97) and May to Rs 98.84 ( 98.94) per kg in a rather dull trading session.



The outstanding positions in February were 3,678 ( 3,682) tonnes, March 3,163 ( 3,127) tonnes, April 998 ( 994) tonnes and May 249 ( 240) tonnes.



Spot prices were ( Rs/ kg): RSS- 4: 93.25 ( 93); RSS- 5: 91 ( 91); ungraded: 89.25 ( 89); ISNR 20: 90 ( 90) and latex 60 per cent: 58.50 ( 58.50).
