China will remove import duties on alumina, refined copper, coal and primary aluminium to help meet increasing demand to home, the finance ministry said on Wednesday. Export taxes on semi-finished steel products will be raised to as high as 25 per cent and a 15 per cent export tax will be imposed for some stainless steel in an effort to cool investment in the steel sector. It will also increase the export tax on low-grade zinc to 15 per cent. The new tax policy will take effect on Jan 1, said the ministry.
