Mixed trend in metal prices

Prices of copper brass and zinc firmed up on the non-ferrous metal market on good industrial demand, while nickel, lead and aluminium ingots moved down owing to lack of demand from industrial users. At New York, the most-active March copper contract rose 4.15 cents to settle at $3.0340 per pound on the Comex division of the New York Mercantil Exchange. In the local market, copper sheets cutting firmed up by Rs.7 per kg to Rs.337, copper scrap heavy by Rs.3 per kg to Rs.340, copper cable scrap by Rs.2 per kg to 344, copper utensils scrap by Rs.2 per kg to Rs.317, copper wire bar by Rs.2 per kg to Rs.372, brass utensils scrap by Rs.2 per kg to Rs.247, brass sheets cutting by Rs.2 per kg to Rs.252, copper armature by a rupee per kg to Rs.334 and zinc by a rupee per kg to Rs.131. However, nickel declined by Rs.10 per kg to Rs.1400, lead by Rs.7 per kg to Rs.125.
