Rusal to boost aluminium output

United Co, Rusal, the world’s largest aluminium producer, will boost output of the metal by 65 per cent within five years, sales director Mr. Peter Finnimore said. The Moscow-based company will increase alumina production 66 per cent during the period, he said at a press conference in Shanghai. Rusal produces 4 million tonnes of aluminium a year, and 11 million tonnes of alumina. Prices of aluminium, used to make aircraft and beverage cans have doubled $2,512 a tonne in the past five years on growing demand from China.
