NALCO to sell 30,000t alumina

National Aluminium Co. will next month sell 30,000 tonnes of the main aluminium – making raw material in the immediate delivery market, Chairman Mr.C.R. Pradhan said. The company agreed on June 22 to sell 30,000 tonnes of alumina at $354 a tonne, Mr. Pradhan said by telephone from Bhubaneswar in eastern India, where the company is based. The alumina will be shipped next month. Nalco, as the company is known, exports 64 per cent of its 1.6 million tonnes a year alumina production at prices linked to those on the London Metal Exchange.
