Spot rubber prices improve

Spot rubber prices turned better on Monday. According to sources, the market improved on covering purchases following widespread rains all over the plantation areas during the past few days.

Sheet rubber improved to Rs 111.50 from Rs 110.50 a kg on the previous weekend. There were no fresh enquiries from the tyre sector.

Futures dip

The December futures for RSS 4 closed at Rs 114(Rs 114.13), January at Rs 116.19 (Rs 116.34), February at Rs 117.85 (Rs 117.91) and March at Rs 119.85 a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

RSS 3 slipped to Rs 118.45 (Rs 118.52) a kg on Singapore Commodity Exchange. Its spot firmed up to Rs 117.35 (Rs 116.80) a kg at Bangkok.

The November futures for RSS 3 improved to ¥234.9 (¥233.9 ) (Rs 121.21),December to ¥235.5 (¥234.3), January to ¥234.3 (¥231.8), February to ¥233.1 (¥232.6), March to ¥234.7 (¥233.7) and April to ¥236.7 (¥235.2) a kg during the day session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM).

The February futures firmed up further to ¥234.2, March to ¥235.8 and April to ¥237.6 a kg while the November, December and January contracts remained inactive during the night session.

Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: 111.50 (110.50) RSS-5: 106.50 (105); ungraded: 103(101.50); ISNR 20: 104(103)and latex 60%: 70(70)
