Precious metals decline further

Mumbai, Sept. 19

Gold prices continued to rule weak on the local bullion market on Saturday on persistent offloading by stockists at higher levels amid lower global cues. Silver also dropped further due to lack of industrial demand.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) declined further by Rs 40 for ten gm to end at Rs 15,835. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also fell by Rs 45 for ten gm to Rs 15,910. Silver ready (.999 fineness) slipped by Rs 80 a kg to close at Rs 26,780.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 28,430; retail silver (a gm): Rs 30.40; standard gold: Rs 15,875; retail ornament gold (22 carat a gm): Rs 1,471.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 26,450; Gold ready: Rs 16,105.
