Nalco seeks buyers for alumina

National Aluminium Co called bids in the immediate-delivery market to sell 30,000 tonnes of the key ingredient for making aluminium. Buyers have until July 9 to submit bids for alumina to be delivered next month, Chairman Mr C.R. Pradhan said. The company expects alumina prices to rise to $250 a tonne from $226 a tonne in the near-term, he said. Global aluminium output rose 5.1 per cent to a four-month high in May as China, the world's largest producer, manufactured more metal, the International Aluminium Institute said. There's a rise in alumina demand globally because of the increase in metal production,
