National Aluminium Co invited bids to sell 30,000 tonnes of the aluminium-making raw material. Buyers have until Feb. 25 to submit offers, according to a document posted on the company's Web site. The alumina will be shipped next month, Chairman Mr C.R. Pradhan said. Nalco, as the company is called, had agreed to $195.25 a tonne for selling a similar quantity earlier this month. Aluminium is smelted from alumina, a semi-processed material made from bauxite ore. Nalco makes 345,000 tonnes of aluminium and exports 64 per cent of the 1.6 million tonnes of alumina it produces every year.
