Metals plunge in LME trade

Base metals on the London Metal Exchange were down in Europe Monday as the New Year buying boost waned, equities were lower and the dollar stronger.

LME copper was trading at $3,270 a tonne. LME aluminium was at $1,525/tonne, down 2.8 per cent. LME zinc was at $1,278.75/tonne, down 0.9 per cent. LME nickel was at $11,175/tonne, down 8 per cent. LME lead was at $1,165/tonne, down 2.9 per cent. LME tin was at $11,650/tonne. LME warehouse aluminium stocks continued their rise adding 15,650 tonnes. Zinc stocks were also up by 2,800 tonnes and copper by 5,925 tonnes.
