Prices of manganese edged up in eastern China this week after many small plants suspended production and squeezed supply, but weak demand from the steel industry is expected to weigh on prices. Price of manganese with 95-98 per cent purity, used in stainless steel production, rose 2 per cent on the week, trading between 13,800-14,300 yuan ($2,020-2,090) on Friday. Traders said the gloomy outlook would continue to weigh on demand and prices.
