Aluminium gains

Aluminium was up $3 at $1,803 a tonne.

Inventories in LME warehouses rose 15,825 tonnes to more than 1.74 million{ndash} the highest since December 1994.

In the previous session aluminium rose as much as 4.2 per cent, but the light metal has fallen almost 50 percent since reaching a record high of $3,380 a tonne in July.

Nickel was last at $10,250 a tonne, down 4 per cent versus $10,675 on Monday, when it rallied 7 per cent. Zinc was at $1,209 against Monday's $1,220.

Lead was down at $1,200 a tonne from $1,215/1,220 and tin fell 4 per cent or $425 at $12,250.
