Tokyo rubber dips 2%

Tokyo rubber futures fell more than 2 per cent to close below the key ¥300- level on Tuesday. The key Tokyo Commodity Exchange rubber contract for January delivery closed at ¥296.2 per kg, down ¥6.5 or 2.1 per cent after moving between ¥295.7 and ¥302.4. The intraday low was the lowest level for a benchmark since April 25. The key contract has now fallen about 17 per cent from a 28-year high of ¥356.9 marked on June 30.

In the physical market, Indonesia's SIR20 was traded late on Monday at 128 US cents per pound ($2.82 a kg) for September shipment and at 127.75 cents ($2.81 a kg) for October, free on board Belawan in North Sumatra.
