To begin with, you will need compost heap, reusable shopping totes and recycling bins. Avoid buying food with unnecessary wrapping, especially those made out of Styrofoam. Whenever possible, buy in bulk. You'll save money and the planet. Start a compost. Some cities offer curbside pickup for compost-friendly food and yard scraps. Ask the cashier not to supply bags; bring your own totes instead. Recycle as much glass, paper and plastic as you can. Reuse packaging in order to reduce your garbage. Planning meals and creating a list of what you need before you go to the grocery store will help you buy exactly what you need. These are just a few tips-you can also come up with your own improvisations to reduce garbage output.
