Did you know that the US is the largest consumer of paper cups? It consumes 130 billion out of the 220 billion cups worldwide! Most paper cups are crafted with a resin or glue to help with holding liquid; due to this, it's very difficult to recycle them. Biodegradable paper cups are a better choice. It may require less energy to manufacture Styrofoam cups than paper cups, but during manufacture, Styrofoam cups release hazardous material. Styrene in Styrofoam is listed as a carcinogen which can cause depression, headaches, damage to nervous system, e.t.c. Vintage glass cups are perfect for tea. Handmade ceramics are beautiful and reusable. We all want the same thing... a safe clean green planet. Spread this campaign by asking your neighborhood coffee shop to use your mug to fill your beverage instead of a paper cup. Next time, take your favorite mug with you to the coffee shop!
