Spot rubber weakens

Physical rubber prices finished weak on Saturday. The market lost ground following the declines on the National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

Sheet rubber moved down to Rs. 188 (189.50) a kg according to traders. The grade slipped to Rs. 188.50 (189) a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as reported by the Rubber Board. The trend was mixed.

In futures, the February series dropped to Rs. 188.72 (190.37), March to Rs. 191.99 (193.20), April to Rs. 198.73 (200.02), May to Rs. 201.50 (203) and June to Rs. 203 (204.95) a kg on the NMCE.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 188 (189); RSS-5: 184.50 (185); ungraded: 181 (181); ISNR 20: 188 (188) and latex 60 per cent: 128 (128).
