Silver spurts, gold firm

Silver prices firmed up sharply on the local bullion market on Tuesday. Gold also continued to rule firm on persistent demand.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) rose by Rs.195 per kg to Rs.17,845 from Rs.17,650 previously.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) firmed up further by Rs.40 per ten gm to Rs.8,760 from Rs.8.720 previously. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also rose by Rs.45 per ten gm to Rs.8,810 from Rs.8,765.
