China antimony up on tight supply

Prices of antimony in Shanghai rose more than 3 per cent from a week earlier, reflecting tightened supplies as local governments crack down on small and polluting smelters. Antimony ingot with 99.65 per cent purity, used in fireproof paint, was quoted in the range of 45,500 yuan to 46,000 yuan ($ 6,6656,739) a tonne, up 3.4 per cent from March 15. — Reuters
