Metals firm on industrial demand

Mumbai, March 4 Nickel prices continued to trade higher on the nonferrous metal market on Thursday due to persistent buying from stockists amid increased demand from industrial users. Tin, copper, aluminium, zinc, lead and brass utensils prices also firmed up on higher offtake from consumer industries. Brass sheets eased on lack of buying support. Nickel strengthened further by Rs 15 a kg to Rs 1,070 and tin rose by Rs 7 a kg to Rs 922. Copper utensils scrap and aluminium utensils scrap both moved up by Rs 3 a kg to Rs 335 and Rs 95 respectively. Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper armature, copper wire bar, brass utensils scrap, zinc and lead all edged higher by Re 1 a kg each to Rs 367, Rs 361, Rs 355, Rs 395, Rs 257, Rs 128 and Rs 109 respectively. Brass sheets cutting softened by Re 1 a kg to Rs 263. — PTI
