Spot rubber rules firm

Spot rubber closed firm on Saturday. The prices moved up mainly on covering purchases and the market seemed to be suffering from supply concerns probably reaching the fag end of the peak production season. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 135 from Rs 134 a kg even amidst comparatively dull volumes.

The February futures for RSS 4 firmed up to Rs 134.83 (133.61), March to Rs 137.69 (137.04), April to Rs 141.90 (141.25) and May to Rs 145.12 (144.31) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 135 (134); RSS-5: 132.50 (131.50); ungraded: 130 (129); ISNR 20: 132 (131.50) and latex 60 per cent: 89 (89).
