Nickel improves on higher LME

Mumbai, Jan. 7

Metal prices firmed up sharply on the non-ferrous metal market on Wednesday on heavy buying by stockists in view of firm trend in the London Metal Exchange (LME). Nickel shot up by Rs 18 a kg to Rs 740. Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy and copper sheets cutting firmed up by Rs 13 a kg to Rs 227, Rs 225 and Rs 222 respectively. Copper armature rose by Rs 12 a kg to Rs 222, copper utensils scrap by Rs 11 a kg to Rs 206, tin by Rs 5 a kg to Rs 740, copper wire bar by Rs 3 a kg to Rs 245 and aluminium utensils scrap by Rs 3 a kg to Rs 80.
