Moderate rise in metal prices

Mumbai, Jan. 5

Prices of copper, brass, zinc and lead firmed up moderately in a narrowly mixed non-ferrous metal market here on Monday on good demand from industrial users. While tin and nickel moved down on lack of industrial demand, copper scrap heavy rose by Rs 6 a kilo to Rs 204 from Rs 198 previously. Copper cable scrap, copper armiture, copper wire bar and copper sheets cutting firmed up by Rs 5 a kilo each to Rs 205, Rs 202, Rs 233 and Rs 200 respectively. Copper utensils scrap moved up by Rs 3 a kilo to Rs 185. Brass utensils scrap, brass sheets cutting, zinc and lead also ended higher by a rupee a kilo each to Rs 156, Rs 157, Rs 75 and Rs 75 respectively. However, tin declined by Rs 5 a kilo to Rs 730 and nickel by Rs 3 a kilo to Rs 715.
