Spot rubber gains on short supply

The opening day of the week witnessed yet another better closing in rubber prices. Even the village markets were suffering from acute short supply as most of the growers reported sharp fall in production due to fundamental reasons.

Reluctant to revise

Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved further to Rs 134 from Rs 133 a kg on the previous weekend. Major manufacturers were also active during the session though they were reluctant to give revised quotes. On the international front, Japanese markets were closed on account of Ocean Day. RSS 3 (spot ) closed at Rs 137.09 a kg at Bangkok. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 134 (133); RSS-5: 132 (131); ungraded: 130 (129); ISNR 20: 131 (131) and latex 60 per cent: 89 (88.50).
